Habits, more than anything else, will either make or break you.
We’ve heard it before, but Talent, Skill or even Motivation are useless without the right habits.
It’s the “small things” we do day in and day out, repeated over an extended period of time that will determine your present and future situation in life!
If your habits are aligned with the goals you desire to achieve, then one day you’ll find yourself reaching those goals.
Don’t take this list lightly, the things written on this list can dramatically change your life if applied correctly.
Take out a pen and piece of paper, write down your thoughts as you go through this list.
It’ll be time and energy well spent.
20 Habits That Will “Guarantee” Your Success
#1. Don’t define success with a dollar amount, but in relation to your happiness.
Don’t measure your happiness with a dollar amount. Chances are you’ll lead a very frustrating life due to the need to acquire more.
Instead, get in the habit of measuring your success and happiness in the same light. Be happy in the present moment despite what you may be going through.
#2. Read before you write or work.
Reading before writing is one way to bust out of “writers block”. It’ll also help in getting your creative juices flowing and will help you come across as much more knowledgeable towards your audience.
If possible, read for 15-minutes before writing or spend 30-minutes reading before going to bed at night.
#3. Wake up at the same time everyday.
One way to ensure you are very productive the next day is to get a good night sleep.
Sometimes we think that by staying up way passed our bed time will get us ahead of the curve. Often times this only has a negative effect on our performance the very next day!
#4. Always finish your to do list.
Get in the habit of checking off your to-do list. This is one way of boosting your morale and making sure your guarantee your success.
If you set out to get it done that day, make sure you check off the box before you retire at night.
#5. Keep your to do list small and scaled.
Following up from Habit #4, keep your to-do list small and manegeable.
With that said, make sure you have at most 2 things that are imporant for that day. Complete those two things first, and don’t move onto anything else until those two things have been completed.
#6. Keep two journals; one for your planning, scheduling, and work. The other for your big ideas, thoughts, and goals.
Things come to life when written down. Get in the habit of writing everything down.
Have a To-Do List? Write it down!
Have a Goal? Write it down!
Have a Dream? Write it down!
#7. Measure everything.
If it’s important enough for you to set out and spend time on it, then it needs to be measured. When you get in the habit of measuring your actions and results, you’ll develop a playbook for what works and what doesn’t.
#8. Stick to 90-minute work sessions.
Try and schedule your work into blocks of time. Respect the time you sit in front of the computer.
It’s amazing how quickly time can zip by if you’re not disciplined in this respect. There are thousands of distractions online (Facebook, YouTube, Email, etc).
Keep a stopwatch nearby. Focus on a 90 minute blocks of work. Once your 90 minutes are up, take an “active” break (excercise to get your blood pumping).
Not only will you get a lot more done, but you will find your work much more fullfilling and rewarding.
#9. Take active breaks.
As followed up from Habit #8, make sure you’re taking “active” breaks in between your 90 minute blocks of work.
This doesn’t need to be anything extreme, maybe just some light stretching and walking to get your blood pumping.
If still in between work, make sure the activity you do doesn’t take you away from getting back and finishing the job at hand.
#10. Wake up early.
Habit #10 can be tough for many people, but if you study extremely successful people, you’ll quickly discover that the great majority have the habit of waking up early in the morning before the rest of the world.
11. Put your family first.
Here’s a biggy…
Always put family first, even if the only family you’ve got is close friends.
When you focus on serving and doing things for others, outside your own personal gain, you’ll quickly discover you feel a lot more fullfilled and accomplished.
Finding you purpose often has to do with this habit.
12. Work harder than your competition.
Success is inevitable if you constantly outwork your competition. Make this your mantra and you’ll find yourself reaching your goals at record speed!
13. Use a big white board.
This habit is probably my favorite out of the whole list!
Use a giant white board to keep your goals close and visible to you while working.
When you goals become crystal clear in your mind, it becomes so much easier to attain them.
14. Share your dream.
Get in the habit of speaking your dreams and goals out loud.
Speaking your dreams gives them life!
This habit becomes even more powerful when the sharing takes place among like minded people.
15. Only surround yourself with successful people.
Surround yourself with people who will build you up. If people around you are constantly tearing you down, then seperate yourself from that environment as quickly as possible.
Remember, you will become the average of the five people you hang out with the most.
16. Keep a healthy body.
This one is huge, but often forgotten!
Belive it or not, a healthy body is tied to your wallet.
It becomes really hard to maintain a healthy mind when your healthy is out of wack!
17. Spend your money only on things that will propel your dream.
Avoid spending your money on “things” such as cars, clothes, vacations, etc.
Instead, invest your money into personal development and things that will fuel your business growth!
18. Make a sacrifice.
Attaining success is all about delayed gratification!
Get in the habit of sacrificing “things” in order to acquire the life you so desire!
The road to success isn’t one of luxury and excess! Instead, it’s all about learning about self-control, sacrifice, hard work and discipline!
19. Review your journals every month.
Get in the habit of writing in a journal and then reviewing what you’ve written. This helps with crystalizing your thoughts
20. Write down 3 things you’re thankful for every day.
Develop a habit of being grateful. It’s proven that people who are happy and grateful achieve far more than negative and pessimistic people!
Count your blessings. The mind is a powerful thing. When focused on the right things (your blessings), it has a way of multiplying what it focuses on.
