Although there are circumstances that are out of our control, we always have a choice to choose things that will help in boosting our happiness.
Here’s my top 4 things I try and implement on a daily basis that almost always give me a quick boost of happiness and make me feel more alive.
4 Simple Habits To Do Daily To Be Happy
This first tip can be a blog post by itself, but being grateful will give you a boost in mood almost instantly. Give yourself some time daily to write down what you’re grateful for. Repeat this either silently in your mind or out loud throughout the day. This will assist with tuning your mind into the positive within your life and maintaining a positive focus.
Dopamine, a chemical that plays a role in happiness, is a neurotransmitter in the brain that’s necessary for feelings of pleasure and happiness. Many studies suggest that as we age, we’re constantly losing our stores of dopamine, which is why we need to constantly seek out experiences that release dopamine. The best way to increase your brain’s dopamine production is through Exercise.
Studies have shown that when you give back and contribute, the mesolimbic system, the portion of the brain responsible for feelings of reward, was triggered. The brain releases feel-good chemicals and spurs you to perform more good deeds, which in turn keeps the feelings of happiness flowing.
Giving back will give you a self-esteem boost, enrich your friendships, give you a sense of belonging, will increase feelings of gratitude and thankfulness.
Surround Yourself With Positive People:
As Jim Rohn would say, ““You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
Often times the fact that we’re feeling down all the time may very well be due to the people we are surrounding ourselves with on a daily basis. This one may require special care, but choosing to cut ties with negative people in our lives may very well be the necessary thing we need to bring more happiness to our lives.
All The Best,
