As I was rolling into work this morning, I had my headset on and getting my 30-minutes of personal development. I try to rotate who I listen to, but it so happens Gary Vaynerchuk was on this morning.
On his opening statement he blurted out… “Execution Matters…. Ideas Don’t!”.
I sat there listening for the remainder of the 30-minutes, but kept zoning out and this one sentence kept repeating over and over again in my head.
As I sit here thinking more and more about why this statement hit so close to home… I come to realize that it’s because I’m living proof why ideas in general without action to back them up really do suck!
There has literally been a 3-year pause in my business and I must tell you it hasn’t been due to a lack of ideas!
This thing we call Entrepreneurship is not easy. I’m sure you’ve heard it many times… but if it were easy, everyone would be successful at this thing!
I hit some heavy patches 3-years back… it was so bad that I literally found myself facing an identity crisis. So bad that no matter all the awesome ideas that came to me, and heavy weight of inaction weighed me down.
The fact that I’m sitting here in front of my computer writing these words is an act of God himself!
So what changed? Why after 3-years of an absence away from my personal biz was I able to finally “snap out of it” and dust myself off and get back into things?
The feeling of losing!
Time is against us all. No matter how much we soak in our past failures… time will not wait for us.
It finally dawned on me that no one was going to come to my rescue and make me feel better about myself. If I was to make something of whatever time God was going to allow me to live, then I needed to dust myself off and get the courage to begin again.
Execution really is what matters… because execution is what will get your momentum going. With an increased level of momentum, more action will be taken. As action increases, so will the chances at real true lasting success.
Two things I have been doing differently the past two weeks that have been helping me build on this momentum are (1) Daily Workouts (Weight Lifting, Cardio) and (2) Personal Development (Audio, Reading).
It’s true what they say that all success starts from within. Self worth is critical to living a fruitful life… and that all starts with personal development.
If you’re feeling stuck or hopeless like I was…. The best thing you can do for yourself is pop your favorite speaker on a headset and go outside for a brisk walk. This in itself may be the very thing that may re-ignite the spark to get your momentum going again to execute on all those awesome ideas you may have!
All the best,
