Starting a Blog that pays you is pretty straight forward
once you’ve identified why it’s critical to growing your
By the end of this Starting a Blog Guide, you’ll have the exact steps needed
to get going with your very own money making blog.
Starting A Blog Guide – Why You Need A Blog
First, you need to know “why” a blog is important.
A blog is nothing more than your personal space online where you can post your own
A common misconception is that your blog will get traffic once you post it on the web.
“How To Drive Traffic” to your blog will be a topic for another mini-guide on here…
but for now, keep in mind that traffic comes to your site “only through active marketing and promotion.”
You need a Blog so you can expose your Home Business.
You need to leverage your time and money, and a Blog lets you do just that.
It’ll let you reach out thousands of new customers everyday through active promotion.
Starting A Blog Guide – Choosing The Right Platform
There are 3 Types of Blog Platforms you can use:
2. Self Hosted
3. Web 2.0
Starting A Blog Guide – The 3 Types of Blog Platforms
1. Free WordPress or Blogger Blog
You’ll hear a lot of people say things like…
“Why pay for a blog when you can get one free over at WordPress.org or Blogger.com”
This post is all about starting a blog that “makes you money”
If you want a hobby site, then go ahead and post content on one of these sites.
You’ll find quickly that you can’t monetize your content one of these “free sites”.
The goal is to grow your home business, so lets just scratch the “free blog” out of the equation.
2. Self Hosted Blog
This is one I particularly like. This site you’re on now is a Self Hosted Blog.
If you want to establish yourself as an authority and grow a following/audience, you’ll want to have your very own self hosted blog.
On a side note, having a self hosted blog isn’t necessary to start generating an income online.
It really is a “nice to have”.
You’ll quickly discover that it’s more of a headache than an asset.
You’ll need to learn all about WordPress, Domain Names, Hosting, Themes, Plugins, SEO and Indexing.
Despite the headaches, I still highly recommend one, only after you’ve gotten the handle
on your marketing and how to start generating an income online.
3. Web 2.0 Blog
There are all kinds of Web 2.0 Blogs on the internet.
This is by far the fastest way to get your content found on the web and start generating an income.
Web 2.0 Blog Domains usually have a high Google Page Rank (PR), so when you post your content,
you’re already ahead of the curve in getting your content ranked.
My choice of preference is Empower Network due it’s growing popularity on Alexa.com and it’s huge community of marketers, but there are many other choices online.
